Photo spots in Virpazar
People ask me this all the time: Photo spots in Virpazar. The short answer is below, the honest one just after — both from what I have seen for years around Lake Skadar.
I write from Virpazar, right at the lake. No copy-paste tips from other guidebooks and no commissions bending my opinion. Just what I would tell a friend.
Short answer
Virpazar is small — you walk the centre in ten minutes. That is the charm: nothing is far, but every corner has a story.
If you expect a tourist hub, you will be pleasantly surprised. Two handfuls of restaurants, a few rooms, a Friday market — and one of the finest access points to Lake Skadar.
What you really need to know
Parking is usually fine outside high season. In July and August I recommend leaving the car above the village and walking the last few metres.
Cash is still normal in Montenegro. There is one ATM on the main road, but I recommend arriving with some cash from Podgorica — local ATM fees are steep.
My recommendation
Two restaurants are always on my list: the one at the stone bridge for carp soup, and a smaller one in the centre for the fish platter. Both are more honest than the big names on TripAdvisor.
Off-season (November to March) Virpazar is very quiet — many places close. If you visit then, call ahead.
